Landing in Melbourne we enjoyed the smell of gum trees and grass, "what do youse wants?" and having our visas approved in 5 mins. Yay for E3 :)
It was then on to Adelaide. Unfortunately Andrew was very sick for the first half of our stay, but we did our best to fit in all the Adelaide essentials once he was feeling better. Despite the record high temperatures (45.7 C!) we managed to catch up with many of our friends, soaked up some sunshine, felt the sand beneath our toes, and smelled the eucalyptus.
We topped off the visit with a dinner with our families at Red Ochre. Perfecto!

So, back to Chicago it is! The flight back was made slightly better as we were able to get on the A380 from Sydney to LA. Really it is not much different to a 747 (apart from the obvious size difference!); no extra leg room, flying time is the same, food is the same. But the seats are more comfortable and the entertainment system seems more reliable (and bigger) and they have a little bar at the back so you can help yourself to drinks and snacks. The ride seemed pretty smooth – Andrew said we got to over 40,000 ft. They have a camera on the tail so you can see what’s going on outside (well when it’s light anyway!). The thing I really noticed though was how much the public were excited about the plane and also the staff seemed pretty proud of it too.
